A legacy from long-time volunteer Cyril Barnett supported the provision of a fully equipped workshop.

Carriage 103 2010

Carriage 103, the first carriage of a new Super Saloon design, has bigger windows, better access, double glazing and improved bogies.

Carriage 103 was the first carriage of a new Super Saloon design with a longer length, bigger windows, better access, double glazing and heating along with improved bogies. Funded with £86,128 from the FR Society, it entered service in February 2010

Tan y Bwlch Children's Play Area 2011

Gives parents the opportunity to have a relaxing time at the cafe, whilst children can play alongside with a view of the passing trains.

A new purpose built play area was installed at Tan y Bwlch in time for Easter 2011, at a cost of £21,900, to give parents the opportunity to have a relaxing time at the cafe whilst children can play alongside with a view of the passing trains

Boiler Repairs and new power bogies for Merddin Emrys 2005

Flagship Double Fairlie locomotive Merddin Emrys returned to service in 2005 after a complete overhaul including new power bogies.

Flagship Double Fairlie locomotive Merddin Emrys returned to service in 2005 after £185,012 from the Society. This included the external overhaul and repairs to the boiler and the construction of two new power bogies in Boston Lodge Works

The Ffestiniog Railway Society exists to support the oldest independent railway in the world (being founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832) – now a historic and world-class tourist attraction.
