A volunteer-led team have been busy at Penrhyn station for the last couple of years, restoring the station building at Penrhyn Station.
On 4th December, the team were awarded the prestigious ‘Network Rail Volunteers Award’ at the National Rail Heritage Awards at the official ceremony.
The wooden station building dates from around 1877 and, despite previous work, was in need of major work, including new wooden cladding and windows in a traditional style. The building is ready to resume its role as a volunteer hostel.

The Ffestiniog Railway Society was pleased to be able to support this project to the tune of £46,353, coming from the restricted fund for Stations which the Society holds.
