Palmerston was dismantled in the Summer of 2015 for obligatory ten year boiler inspection.
Reassembly was a tight timetable to be ready for service at the Victorian Weekend at the beginning of October. The previous paintwork, applied in 1993, was pretty tired and damaged.
For the Victorian Weekend, Palmerston returned to service in unlined red livery. Following that, it was back to work and applying the lining followed by varnishing.
