Carriage 121 2012

£91,000 from the Society made the construction of Super Saloon Carriage 121 possible.

Carriage 121 was the second Super Saloon constructed. Entirely funded by the FRS including bogies, the carriage encompasses heating and double glazing and spacious seating. The carriage entered traffic in May 2012 after £91,000 from the Society

David Lloyd George new power bogies 2014

Only possible due to £200,000 fundraised by members.

A major fundraising initiative over five years to provide 1992-built double fairlie David Lloyd George with new piston-valve power bogies, at a cost of £200,000. This is only possible due to the fundraising by members and general donations received

Boiler Repairs and new power bogies for Merddin Emrys 2005

Flagship Double Fairlie locomotive Merddin Emrys returned to service in 2005 after a complete overhaul including new power bogies.

Flagship Double Fairlie locomotive Merddin Emrys returned to service in 2005 after £185,012 from the Society. This included the external overhaul and repairs to the boiler and the construction of two new power bogies in Boston Lodge Works

Porthmadog Heritage Signalling 2014

Installation of semaphore signalling, the magnificent result of a call out to members.

The call went out to members to support the installation of heritage signalling features as part of the rebuilding of Porthmadog Harbour Station. The response was magnificent with £68,000 being raised to support the installation of semaphore signalling and the associated features

Original George England loco Prince was to be a fundamental part of the 150th celebrations of steam in 2013.

Original George England loco Prince was to be a fundamental part of the 150th celebrations of steam in 2013. In preparation for this, two years of fundraising resulted in £67,000 to pay for the overhaul in time for the celebrations

The Ffestiniog Railway Society exists to support the oldest independent railway in the world (being founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832) – now a historic and world-class tourist attraction.
