Over the weekend of 9-11th October, Welsh Pony ran at the recent Bygones weekend. Having run since July in a temporary unlined livery, Welsh Pony was pulled into the paintshop for a refresh of the paintwork and application of lining out. Whilst not prototypical, this temporary livery was well received and Welsh Pony looked stunning on services over the weekend.
Welsh Pony can be seen heading off to Blaenau on its naming train and seen returning from Beddgelert the day after:
With the nameplates and lining this is pretty much the icing on the cake for the £265,000 restoration of the loco, all raised through donations from supporters and members of the Ffestiniog Railway Society.
Whilst the livery is temporary, it may well last slightly longer than originally intended before repainting into Garraway green as originally intended.
