Trains are now running on the Ffestiniog Railway between Porthmadog and Tan y Bwlch and will continue to do so daily until 30th September. All journeys start at Porthmadog only. A decision about October services will be made in early September.
It is hoped to commence Welsh Highland services around 18th August between Caernarfon and Beddgelert. All journeys start at Caernarfon only and will run on certain days only.
Seating is strictly limited on these services due to social distancing and consequently trains are very busy Monday to Thursday. We would therefore ask our members to refrain from using their free travel benefits between Monday and Thursday, apart from the 1525 which tends to be quieter. However, members are welcome to book free compartments between Friday and Sunday, subject to availability. This allows us to maximise sales on busy days.
Members may book their compartment by either telephoning Porthmadog booking office, 01766 516024 between 0930 and 1630, or in person at the shop counters at Porthmadog or Caernarfon during opening hours.
Please note: members of both WHRS and FRS may travel free of charge on either railway for the remainder of 2020.
Talyllyn Railway Benefits:
Reciprocal Arrangements with the Talyllyn Railway are withdrawn for the month of August. However, from September onwards for the remainder of 2020 services, FRS and WHRS members will be welcome to travel on the Talyllyn at their privilege rate and the same will apply here for their members.
All three railways thank you for your continued support and understanding of the reasons for these restrictions. We look forward to seeing you in our cafes and shops too as all income is very much appreciated. It is all about maximising revenue for your railways in order to help them through what could be a long winter.
