Goings on in Minffordd Yard

Minffordd yard saw a couple of visitors on Wednesday 10th February.

One unusual visitor is the restored lower deck of a Glasgow tram. This has been a contract job in Boston Lodge carriage works. Now complete, it has been moved to Minffordd for safe storage.

Joining the tram is Princess and two green ‘bug boxes’, ready to travel to London’s Kings Cross station from 13 February – 21 February.

Princess was built in Hatcham, London by George England and delivered to the Ffestiniog Railway in 1863. The locomotive has been cosmetically restored and acts as a roving ambassador for the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.

You can see Princess – with two of the Ffestiniog Railway’s earliest carriages – beneath the modern canopy of the Western Concourse at Kings Cross Station.
